Comprehensive reference matrix covering standard sheet metal gauge numbers, nominal decimal thickness, tolerance bands, and pound-per-square-foot densities for steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Note: Gauge numbers do not represent identical thicknesses across carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum. Always specify nominal decimal thickness on engineering drawings.

Detailed answers regarding our Plainville facility capabilities, material certifications, testing protocols, and defense contract compliance.
Manufacturers use different historical gauge scales: Manufacturers' Standard Gauge for carbon steel, Brown & Sharpe for aluminum, and US Standard for stainless. Specifying decimal dimensions (e.g. 0.090" ±0.003") prevents ambiguity on defense drawings.
